Evaluation-
To understand the purpose of chemical hazard evaluation and the risk mitigation, the relationship between hazard and risk must be understood. Risk is probability that a hazard will result in an adverse consequences. The term risk and hazard are not synonymous. Because hazard is the intrinsic property of chemical substances, the hazard can be eliminated by removing the agent, activity or the conditions that present the hazards. Once hazard identified, the risk associated with the identified hazard can be mitigated or reduced by implementing the control measures if the hazards are not removed (American Chemical Society 2013).
